Northbridge is a new church in North Lowndes County, Georgia sent out from New Covenant Church in Valdosta, Georgia in February of 2009. A total of 5 couples were sent out from New Covenant to begin this work. After 2 years of prayer, preparation, team building, and divine appointments, we have begun meeting together and are getting ready to launch our first 2 home churches.
The mission of Northbridge is simple. “BE HIS CHURCH.” In the New Testament, Jesus stated that, “…upon this rock I will build My church and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.” Jesus spoke of a living, vibrant church that is not contained in a building, but is found in the hearts of people who are dedicated to following Jesus. This church cannot be overcome by what is going on in the world, but it was purposed to transform the world by the power of Jesus Christ. Every disciple must love God, love each other, and love the lost – just as Jesus did. If we live as Jesus did, then the result of our lives will be Him reconciling people to Himself, dwelling in our midst, and His Church (“called out ones”) shining as a light in a dark world.
The backbone of Northbridge is our home churches. Home Churches are small communities of believers that meet together throughout the community in order to encourage and minister to one another, to reach the lost with the love of Christ, and to help train new leaders. The first century church, according to Acts 2:46-47 met in home churches and we believe this is God’s planned structure for His Church.
Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people, and the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
We also meet together corporately to encourage, motivate, refresh and empower everyone to be a follower of Jesus Christ and reach the world with the good news of His Gospel. We are all commanded to “Go” and it is vital that we consistently meet together to give testimony to the power of God working our lives and to give vision to reaching our neighbors, family, and friends with the love of Christ.
