Northbridge Home Churches are small family oriented expressions of the Body of Christ. Each Home Church is unique according to the spiritual gifts of those present. The purpose of Home Church is to help each disciple of Christ grow to maturity in their love for God, love for each other and love for the world. This will happen as every believer takes personal responsibility for their relationship with God, and every person allows the Holy Spirit to use them to minister to others – believers and unbelievers. We also believe that where each Home Church is located is the place it is supposed to be “salt” in the community. Each Home Church has goals of meeting needs practically, loving our neighbors as ourselves, and presenting the love of Christ through service.
Another practical purpose of Home Church is for training and equipping every believer. We believe each person can:
Be discipled. This means each person can learn from an older, more mature believer that can help them grow stronger in their relationship with Christ. Also, through discipleship the body of Christ is built up so that everyone learns to use their gifts and talents to help others.
Be a minister. God has made His Church diverse so that no one person can do everything. We all need each other and are inter-dependent. Everyone has the responsibility to minister.
Form worthwhile friendships. In small groups you get the opportunity to meet, trust, and develop relationships that will last a life time. The Bible uses the word “koinonia” to describe this, and it means “fellowship, intimacy, connection, the participation each one has with one another.
Reach family and friends. This is a natural place to invite loved ones and acquaintances that possibly have reservations about attending the regular services of a local church. The cells provide a more friendly and family environment for the non-believer.
Home Churches meet on Sunday mornings. Please check with each leader for start times.
Nursery is available for children 5 and under. We encourage each family to bring their older children to Home Church. The body of Christ is diverse and we believe children have talents and spiritual gifts that can be used to minister. Our desire is to see each child learn how to love Christ with all their heart, love each other and minister to those who are lost. There is no better way of teaching this to them than by living it out in front of their eyes!
